Any individual or organisation residing within the European Union is eligible for a .eu name. If you don't know how to get started, follow the steps below.
Keep in mind that you cannot register a .eu domain name through EURid. You can only register a .eu domain name through an accredited .eu registrar. That's because registering a domain name through a registrar is a little like buying books from a bookseller. A registrar usually provides services for many different Internet domains, including .eu, just as a bookseller sells books from many different publishers.
Step 1.
Use the WHOIS Search box on the left to find an available name.
Step 2.
Register the name with a .eu accredited registrar. If you don’t have a registrar, you can
search our list by location, language or name.
First-come, first-served
.eu domain names are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Many names are available. But sometimes a name is unavailable because:
- It breaks the rules for .eu domain names. (See the technical limitations page for more information.)
- It has been blocked or reserved by the European institutions, EU Member States, EU Candidate, Members of the EEA.
Rights and obligations
By registering a .eu domain name you become a
registrant, also known as a domain name holder. In brief, domain name holders have the right to trade, transfer or delete their .eu domain names. They are not allowed to use their .eu names for any unlawful purpose or in any way that:
- Violates third-party rights
- Violates any applicable laws or regulations
- Discriminates on the basis of race, language, sex, religion or political views.
