In response to the many questions it has received, EURid would like to clarify the statuses of Sunrise applications shown in WHOIS.
While an application is awaiting a validation decision, it will have an “Initial” status. After validation the status of the application will change, to either “Accepted” or “Rejected.” There are no intermediate statuses for Sunrise applications. This means that an application will retain its “Initial” status until it has been validated.
Other possible statuses for a Sunrise application could be:
Expired:Where the applicant did not submit any documentary evidence to support his application within 40
days of it being filed.
Not considered: When an application is accepted, any other applications for the same domain name further down in the queue get the status “Not considered”.
As previously stated, EURid believes that the vast majority of applications based on trademarks will have been validated by the end of June with the remainder being validated by the end of September.
