Increase your chances of getting your .eu domain name - How to send in your documentary evidence

After almost two months of Sunrise EURid wants to share some of the experience we have gained from the way the documentary evidence has been sent in. The vast majority of all documentary evidence is received in a correct way, but we still see some unnecessary mistakes.

- Pay attention to the confirmation email sent out within 24 hours after your application is received. It explains how to send in the documentary evidence. If you haven’t received this email, contact your registrar.

- Make sure that the bar code on the cover letter is easily readable. It can, for instance, be a problem when using an old ink jet printer and thin paper.

- Make sure that the documentary evidence is received within the 40-day deadline. Sending post across Europe can take several days, regardless of what your local post office says.

- Just send in unfolded papers in the A4 format printed only on one side, no staples, no paperclips, no glue or any other thing that makes it impossible to automatically scan it.

- Keep track of your application by using EURid’s on-line WHOIS database (www.whois.eu). There you can follow your application. See when the deadline for your documentary evidence is due, if your documentary evidence has been received, if your application is being accepted, rejected or has expired and if there are other applicants for the same domain name.

- Don’t wait until the last minute. The 40-day deadline for the documentary evidence is there for you to have plenty of time to prepare your documents.
