Since joining the EU on the 1st of January, 2007, Romanian and Bulgarian residents have been able to register .eu domain names. The very first .eu domain name to be registered on January 1 by one of the new member states was “lex-expert.eu.” This name was registered by the Romanian registrar, EuroDomenii, at 00:02:56 on behalf of one of their Romanian customers. The honour of registering the first .eu domain name on behalf of a Bulgarian holder goes to the American registrar, Go Daddy, who registered “premium-bg.eu” on January 1 at 01:01:09.
