In less than a week from the general launch .eu has approximately 1.5 million domain names registered.

This is in addition to all the applications made during the Sunrise phase which still await validation before they are activated.

This makes .eu the 4th largest top level domain in Europe after Germany (.de), UK (.uk) and the Netherlands (.nl).

To realise this feat, EURid has been cooperating with more than 1 000 accredited registrars based in Europe and the rest of the world.

Since launching .eu all member states have shown considerable interest with the following 4 countries leading the pack: (as of 14:37 this afternoon).
